This mission will enhance the ability of the organization and chapters to prepare scholars and researchers as leaders for the 21st century. To accomplish this mission, the Society shall promote scholarship and encourage intellectual development, promote research and foster the spirit of inquiry, confer distinction for high achievement, promote leadership development, stimulate student and faculty dialogue, enrich the intellectual environment of higher education institutions, encourage high standards of practice and ethical behavior, and promote attitudes of professional responsibility for the public good. ELIGIBILITY: Undergraduate students shall have completed 45 semester hours or equivalent, have a minimum grade point average of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale, and rank in the top 25 percent of their class. Graduate students shall have completed 12 semester hours of graduate work or equivalent and have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. MAJOR ACTIVITIES: KON awards $150-500 in scholar program grants to each chapter once each biennium. Fellowships and grants in excess of $70,000 are awarded each biennium. Grants are awarded on the basis of research priorities. Chapter programming focuses on a national program theme and scholarly priorities, including undergraduate writing, ethics, mentoring, cultural diversity, leadership, and undergraduate research.
